Questions for the goalkeepers on WHO
Is the quality in goalkeeper gloves that much different from brand to brand? And what is a good price point for a decent pair of gloves?

And do you bother with all the padded kit muck?

Whatever happened to Tea of Adamson? He was the WHO specialist on all things Goal Defender.

Used to wear Uhlsport because Ludo did. You can’t go far wrong with them.

There’s a website for decent goalkeeper gear - https://www.just-keepers.com/1_Goalkeeper-Gloves/1_Uhlsport/

Adidas fingersave gloves were the best I ever wore.
Never bothered with padded kit.

I was a bloody good keeper in my heyday, shame age catches up with you.

Shorts aren't padded either

Re: Questions for the goalkeepers on WHO
No.

One of my shirts has a little padding, but I don't really care about it. (And I only play on astro), my other one doesn't.
I do wear knee supports (1 for my fucked knee, 1 for keeping skin on my knees)

Re: Questions for the goalkeepers on WHO
i only used the padding if i was playing on astro turf or the ground was frozen. not much point wearing in normal conditions

Mad Dog -

I had you in mind when posting this thread actually.

Do you go in for all the padded shorts and tops?

Sorry to be an oldy but I don't understand these gloves. Before they became the norm keepers caught the ball. Now with those thick mits they parry everything. I only put on wool gloves when it was wet.

Once you get used to it, keeping without gloves is better.

When you train, try a pair of wet inner gloves on their own (the type you get for cricket).

Do you bother with padded shorts and tops, Woody?

I always found the grip on Nike gloves to be pretty decent.
Not a fan of the gloves that have the spines in the fingers. I was told they do more harm than good as they don't allow your fingers to flex naturally...

Had a mustard pair of Umbro gloves back in the day as well.
justkeepers is a good site for all that stuff, normally get something half deec discounted as well.

Fit is more important, too long & you'll be spilling balls left & right.

I play in goal for a top club in Hampshire called the Hampshire irons. I say top club...

Anyway.

40 quid tops and get what ever ones feel most comfortable in. I don’t like he finger saves one personally.
